Writers Group

Learning to write our memoirs is the major aspect of this group.  We discuss who is the intended audience – whether it is family only, wider than immediate family, or whether it is intended to publish.  We discuss how to prepare to interview people, how to conduct the interviews and write up our notes.  We discuss how to put memories into context so that they have meaning for the reader.  We also discuss what to include and what not to include.  This is very much a personal choice.  We decide on the subject for the coming month and then everyone reads a small selection of what they have written.  Topics can range from earliest memories of childhood, to important events in our lives, where we have lived, our families and so on.  We meet on the first Thursday of the month at 10am.
